FREE WITH MEMBERSHIP FITNESS CLASSES (13 & UP)
Yoga, Pilates, Strength Conditioning, Traditional Aerobics, Step, and Silver Sneakers®.
Our fitness classes are taught by trained and nationally certified
group fitness instructors. All fitness classes begin with a 7-10 minute
warm-up. Aerobic classes include a minimum of 30 minutes of
cardiorespiratory exercise (with the exception of the Exercise Lite
classes, which have approximately 20 minutes), 10-20 minutes of
muscle conditioning and a 5-10 minute flexibility segment. Classes run
from 45-75 minutes in length. See Fitness Class Schedule to determine
length of class. Please come by the Y and pick up a schedule with class
descriptions or call The Family YMCA, 662-3100, for more information.

Y-RIDE INDOOR CYCLING CLASSES
All
fitness levels! (ages 16
& up)
Come try the hottest group exercise format in the country! Indoor group
cycling is an exercise class on specially-designed fixed-gear bicycles.
These classes provide fun, camaraderie, sweat and lots of motivation!
Our certified cycling instructors will guide you through an exciting
and challenging workout. Because participants control their own
intensity level, group cycling is great for people of any fitness
level. If you’re looking for a straight-forward, athletic
workout, Y-Ride is for you! 8 class punch card available at front desk.

FITNESS ORIENTATIONS (ages 13 & up)
Free to Members! A YMCA Fitness Specialist or Fitness Trainer will provide up to 3
fitness orientations to familiarize you with the machines in the
strength training and cardio rooms. Information on basic training
principles will be presented, as well as instruction and demonstration
of proper technique, form and general use of the strength training and
cardio machines. Time slots are available at various times throughout
the day. Please schedule an appointment at the Member Services Desk. Medical clearance may be
required before
participation.

FITNESS ASSESSMENTS (ages 18 & up)
The YMCA offers fitness assessments to people who are interested in
knowing their current level of fitness. This tool is particularly
valuable for those wanting to start a fitness program but who are
uncertain where to begin. It’s also great for you fitness
buffs
to see where all that hard work has gotten you. A certified Fitness
Specialist will begin your assessment by checking your heart rate,
blood pressure, and body composition, then continue with a
cardiorespiratory test on a bicycle ergo meter, a sit and reach
flexibility test, and strength and endurance assessments for your
abdominals and upper body. Once you have completed the evaluation, the
Fitness Specialist will review your results with you and help you get
started on a fitness program. You can schedule an appointment at the
Member Services Desk. Medical
clearance may be required before participation.
YMCA Members: $22 Program Members: $35
FREE-WEIGHT STRENGTH TRAINING (ages 16 & up)
In these training sessions, you will receive individual instruction on
free-weight strength training techniques from one of our trainers. Four
sessions are available; you may choose to take one, two, three or all
four. Each training session will teach you 8-10 free-weight exercises
and will last approximately one hour. A
YMCA Fitness Orientation is required before participating in this
program.
YMCA Members: $22/session Program Members: $35/session
10-WEEK PERSONALIZED FITNESS PROGRAM
(ages 18 & up; this program is for those that are new to
fitness)
Did you know that leading a sedentary lifestyle is considered a major
risk factor in developing cardiovascular disease? This 10-week program
offers guidance, motivation, and structure which will help you to
maintain a healthy lifestyle. Exercise will be introduced in small
achievable steps and an exercise program will be designed for you with
your goals and abilities in mind. You will meet with a Fitness Trainer
4 times for approximately 1 hour with weekly phone calls and/or e-mails
to help keep you motivated. Medical
clearance may be required before participating in this program.
YMCA Members: $75
Program Members: $175 (includes 10-week YMCA membership)
KINDER YOGA (ages 2-6)
An imaginative introduction to yoga for boys and girls 2-6 years old.
Program uses silly and fun yoga postures to guide children through
movement. Yoga helps build strong, flexible, healthy bodies while
increasing attention span and the ability to focus. KinderYoga helps
children build self-esteem and body awareness. Class fill also foster
language development and social integration skills.
