The Family YMCA strives to provide programs that are sensitive to the individual needs of children, and age-appropriate learning experiences that help each child develop to his fullest potential. Specifically, our program offers children a base of warmth, security and continuity provided by caring, qualified staff. Our low staff to child ratios allow for active engagement of all children, which fosters a sense of acceptance and a positive self-image within each child. The design of our program permits freedom within set limits; that have been established and agreed upon by both staff and children.
When school lets out, Y kids eat a healthy snack, release their energy playing, enjoy the company of friends, get their homework done and learn something new. Seasoned staff engage children in fun group games where honesty and fair play are reinforced and kids are introduced to new projects that let them explore their creativity. Y kids take field trips and participant in community service projects, too. They frequently have so much fun that they want to stay longer. The Y's enriching After-School programs are held at each elementary school from the time school lets out until 5:45pm. Fees depend on the number of days enrolled. We offer financial assistance so all may have access to our program. Registration for the 2013-2014 school year begins March 1, 2013. Registration fee waived during our registration drive, March 1 - April 30, 2013.
